Ross Hoddinott, part 2 – favorite image

I truly love this image, though taken in the wild it looks like it could have been taken in a studio. The details of the feathers is perfect especially the fine feathers on the face of the owl where each individual one can be seen.

The light is great as well focused on the face and the gently fading to shadow the further back it goes. The way this has been done makes it seem that the light is illuminating from the owls face and not an outside source. This teamed with the dark isolating back ground draws the viewer to the face of the owl and straight to the dark orbs of the owls eyes.
